Awards

  • Overall: Overall awards will be given for top 3 overall male and female in the Sprint and Olympic Tri, and the Duathlon.
  • An Overall award will be given to the top 1 relay team in each event (Sprint and Olympic Tri, and the Duathlon)
  • Age Group: The top three finishers (male and female) in each age division for all events (Sprint and Olympic Tri, and the Duathlon) will win awards.
    • Age divisions are: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Parking will be available at Northwestern Michigan's College Campus. Please use Parking Lots: Maple & Cherry for participant parking. Please allow yourself an extra 10-15 minutes to walk from the parking lots to the Start/Finish Line.

Permits for the Traverse City Triathlon are still pending. If the event were to be denied permit approval to hold the event, all participants will receive a full refund.

Rules & Regulations

  • Wetsuits may be worn. Wetsuits are mandatory in water temperatures less than 60.6º F. They may be worn in water temperatures up to and including 83.9º F. Wetsuits are prohibited in water temperatures greater than 84º F. Wetsuits cannot measure more than 5mm thick. More information can be found here.
  • Helmets and swim caps are MANDATORY.
  • Headphones are NOT allowed during any portion of the race.
  • Drafting is NOT permitted. Penalties and disqualification will be given for drafting.
  • You MUST wear your timing chip on your ANKLE throughout the race. NO CHIP = NO TIME.
  • All relay athletes will exchange the timing chip in transition.
  • All athletes need to mount/dismount the bike at the mount/dismount line.
  • All runners are required to wear a bib number and it MUST face forward at the finish line.
  • Racers and spectators must follow volunteer and officials’ instructions at all times. Transition will remain closed until the last biker has moved on to their run. No one will be allowed back in for any reason.

Rules & Regulations

Wetsuits

Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wet suit policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for elite athletes at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3000 meters and 71.6 degrees for distances of 3000 meters or greater. For the purpose of these rules, wetsuits are swimwear made of material providing thermal insulation. Wetsuits cannot exceed 5mm thickness anywhere. If the wetsuit is made in two pieces, the combined thickness in the overlapping areas may not exceed the 5 mm thickness limit. Any swimmer wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5 millimeters shall be disqualified. The swim distance can be shortened or cancelled according to this table (water temperature degree F): *Note: The temperatures above are not always the water temperature used in the final decision. Keep in mind, other factors will influence safety conditions including are temperature, humidity, acclimation, regional adaptation, and wind.
